Garmin GSB™ 15 — Type-A and Type-C, Rear Power Input - 010-02544-21
Garmin GSB™ 15, Type-A and Type-C, Rear Power Input adds dedicated USB charging capability to an aircraft electrical system. Its mixed USB Type-A and USB Type-C configuration supports simultaneous charging from two ports, making it a practical choice for keeping compatible cockpit devices powered in flight.
Dual-Port Device Charging
Charge two compatible devices at the same time through one USB Type-A port and one USB Type-C port. Each port provides up to 27W of output power.
Aircraft Power Compatibility
The unit accepts 14V or 28V input power for use with common aircraft electrical-system voltages. Its rear power input configuration supports a compact installation arrangement.
Fast-Charging Support
USB Type-A charging incorporates Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ Technology. The USB Type-A/USB Type-C version has a 68W maximum power consumption while charging.
Power for Connected Devices
The GSB™ 15 provides USB output voltage ranges of 3.6V-12V for the Type-C port and 5V-12V for the Type-A port. This configuration combines legacy USB Type-A connectivity with USB Type-C charging in a single aircraft-mounted unit. When not charging, minimum power consumption is 500mW.
Compact Rear-Input Configuration
This rear-connector version measures 1.50" x 1.50" x 0.92" and weighs 0.16 lbs. It is certified to TSO-C71. Required circuit breaker sizing is 5A with 28V input or 7.5A with 14V input for the USB Type-A/USB Type-C unit.

Add USB Power and Charging to Your Aircraft
- Choose up to 27 watts of charging power per port with dual USB Type-C or USB Type-A/Type-C models or up to 18 watts of charging power per port with dual USB Type-A model
- Charge two full-size iPad® tablets1 or similar smart devices while using them
- Halo lighting around each USB port makes connections easy in dark conditions
- Offers easy installation in an existing instrument cutout with optional adapter plate
- Two power input options available — rear or side wiring connections — to help simplify installation in tight spaces such as armrests or sidewalls
In just a few short years, battery-powered mobile devices have become essential in-flight tools for pilots and their passengers alike. Pilots use their tablets or smartphones to access flight plans, moving maps, charts, weather data, manuals and more — while passengers access entertainment, messaging and all types of productivity apps on their devices. But, invariably, all these portable electronics need an external power source to keep them charged and ready to use over a long flight. That’s where our GSB 15 USB charging hub makes all the difference.
Power up on the Fly
The dual-port GSB 15 offers multiple charging options. The dual USB Type-A GSB 15 charging hub features Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ technology and can deliver up to 18 watts of power to each USB port simultaneously. If you have a newer portable device, including iPad Pro tablets from 2018 or later, the GSB 15 dual USB Type-C version offers up to 27 watts — enough to power two tablets or similar smart devices while also charging their batteries1. It also includes USB Power Delivery technology to provide optimal charging to every connected device. You can even choose a version that offers one of each type connector for maximum flexibility. With any option, there’s built-in protection against circuit and temperature overloads. Plus, configurable halo lighting on the plugs makes them easy to locate and access in a darkened cabin or cockpit — and the dual USB Type-C and USB Type-A/Type-C versions even have dimmable lighting.
Small and Simple to Install
All slimline GSB 15 charging hubs measure just over 1.5” square and stand less than an inch deep — making them among the smallest dual-port USB charging hubs ever designed for aviation use. They come in two formats: one designed to be wired into aircraft power from the back of the unit — and one that connects to aircraft power through the side (bottom) of the case. Choose the version that fits best with your application and its related space constraints.
Data Passthrough
If your aircraft is equipped with a GI 275 Flight Instrument you will also appreciate GSB 15 for its data transfer capabilities. Using a USB flash drive and the GSB 15, you can transfer databases to a GI 275 flight instrument. Databases will then also be synced among multiple GI 275 flight instruments in a single cockpit. In addition to database updating, GSB 15 can also be used to save flight logs — including engine data2 — from the GI 275 to a USB flash drive.
Fits Tight Spaces and Budgets
You can mount GSB 15 virtually anywhere. It’s small enough to fit a 1” cutout — and it’s available with an optional 1” decorative cover or mounting plates that allow for easy installation in existing, unused 2.25” or 3.125” instrument holes in the panel. And all GSB 15 models use the same power input connector, so the USB Type-C equipped versions can be an easy upgrade from an existing dual Type-A installation3. GSB 15 has FAA TSO and, consequently, European approval. The device will fit in a variety of constricted spaces — such as aircraft sidewalls, armrests or aft console positions — where most aviation USB chargers are simply too large or unwieldy to install.
1Applies to newer iPads models equipped with a USB Type-C port. Must be connected to USB Type-C port on GSB 15
2Requires GI 275 engine indication system
3May require wiring or breaker change in 14-volt aircraft. See installation manual for details.
