Garmin aera® 660 - 010-01518-00
Garmin aera® 660, Americas is a purpose-built portable GPS navigator that brings moving-map navigation, flight planning, and aviation charting to a bright 5-inch touchscreen. Its VFR-focused design gives pilots a compact way to view position, terrain, airspace, airports, and route information in the cockpit.
Sunlight-Readable Touchscreen
View aviation information clearly on a bright 5-inch touchscreen with pinch-to-zoom and panning controls. The display supports both portrait and landscape orientations.
VFR And IFR Mapping
Build situational awareness with customizable dynamic maps, ground references, georeferenced VFR sectional charts, and IFR enroute map modes. Touch-enabled IFR information includes minimum enroute altitudes and distances between intersections.
Connected Traffic Awareness
Available Garmin ADS-B “In” solutions can add ADS-B traffic targets and subscription-free U.S. weather data. TargetTrend™ relative motion tracking and TerminalTraffic™ display provide additional traffic context when supported data is available.
Route Planning And Guidance
Create a flight plan by entering a starting waypoint and destination, then inserting route segments as needed. The on-screen Direct-to key provides a quick path to a selected waypoint, with nearby airports and flight plan waypoints available for entry. GPS and GLONASS satellite acquisition supports rich, interactive map presentation, while the high-sensitivity receiver provides WAAS position accuracy.
Airport And Airspace Context
The dynamic map can show airports, cities, terrain, obstacles, and other ground references to help establish position on VFR flights. Smart Airspace™ guidance highlights airspace nearest the current altitude, helping place the aircraft in context with surrounding airspace. After landing, georeferenced SafeTaxi diagrams can track location at hundreds of airports and identify published hot spots.
Cockpit Connectivity Options
With an optional power/data cable, the aera 660 can find and upload frequencies to select radios, including most GTR™ series COMM radios and GNC® series NAV/COMM radios. It can interface with the GFC™ 500 digital autopilot for coupled lateral and VFR vertical guidance, and it can transfer flight plans wirelessly to select Garmin systems. Pairing with an optional GDL® 51 or GDL 52 datalink receiver adds SiriusXM® satellite weather coverage and audio entertainment features.
