Garmin GDL® 50 is a compact portable ADS-B receiver that wirelessly delivers traffic, subscription-free U.S. weather, GPS position and backup attitude information to compatible apps and devices. It is a practical option for pilots who want to add situational-awareness data across portable and supported installed displays without ADS-B Out capability.
Traffic Awareness With TargetTrend™
Receive ADS-B position reports from nearby aircraft through both 978 UAT and 1090 ES. Compatible Garmin products can use TargetTrend™ to help show an intruding target’s direction and closure rate relative to your aircraft.
Subscription-Free FIS-B Weather
View U.S. FIS-B weather, including animated graphical weather, METARs, TAFs and winds. Weather queuing can gather updates while a display is sleeping or turned off for refresh when it returns.
Portable Power And Sharing
Operate for up to 8 hours on the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, or use microUSB or the included 12-volt adapter cable for power. Connect up to 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously and support up to 2 wired display devices.
Position And Attitude Data
The built-in GPS receiver provides aircraft position data to compatible displays. Its integrated AHRS supplies backup attitude reference, adding useful information to supported portable-device workflows. GDL® 50 is a noncertified receive-only product and does not provide ADS-B Out capability for FAA mandate requirements.
Wireless And Wired Integration
Bluetooth® connectivity supports data sharing with Garmin Pilot, ForeFlight and compatible aera devices. The 18-pin connector and data/power cable support wired integration with G3X Touch™ flight displays and compatible aera devices, while connections are also available for external GPS and ADS-B antennas.
Compact Aircraft Use
The GDL® 50 measures 4.9" x 1.3" x 3.4" (12.44 x 3.30 x 8.64 cm) and weighs 0.75 lbs (0.34 kg). Its specified operating range extends to 55,000 ft and 0 – 800 kts (411 m/s), with an anti-slip mat on the bottom of the unit.
