Garmin GTR 205xR — COMM Radio for Experimental Aircraft - 010-03396-01
Garmin GTR 205xR is a remote-mount VHF COMM radio for experimental aircraft that combines communication, intercom, and audio functions while helping conserve panel space. Its 2,280-channel capability, 10 watts of transmit power, and display-integrated frequency tools make it a focused option for pilots building a connected experimental cockpit.
Streamlined Frequency Management
Move selected airport frequencies to standby from an AXIS Flight Display or G3X Touch display. Tap between standby and active frequencies for direct tuning control.
Stay Ahead Of Calls
Monitor a standby frequency such as ATIS while remaining on the active channel. Frequency memory and recall support quick access to frequently or recently used frequencies.
Integrated Cabin Audio
Communicate with a passenger through the built-in two-place intercom, with pilot isolate for independent radio and music listening. Auto squelch adjusts mic squelch to cockpit noise levels, while 3D audio processing separates stereo audio sources by perceived location.
Display-Connected Communications
When paired with an AXIS Flight Display or G3X Touch display, the GTR 205xR can look up location-specific frequencies after an airport identifier is entered, including tower, ground, ATIS, and clearance delivery. GPS-enabled frequency ID can also show the identifier and type of the tuned frequency, such as tower, ATIS, or center. The radio supports pilot-selectable 25 kHz or 8.33 kHz channel spacing.
Audio And Bluetooth Options
The GTR 205xR supports up to four AUX inputs, including two stereo audio channels plus mono audio alerts and other sources. Bluetooth 5.0 support includes A2DP and AVRCP for music and HFP for phone use, with one connected device at a time and storage for up to 8 paired devices. Supported music sources include phones, tablets, GDL 51/52, and Garmin D2 Delta watches.
Configuration Maintenance
Music playback can be tailored with enhanced bass boost levels and rock, classical, or pop equalizer profiles. Firmware updates are free and field loadable by micro-SD card. This supports ongoing software maintenance without changing the radio’s remote-mount installation.

MEET YOUR COMM NEEDS — AND MORE
Save space with the remote-mount GTR 205xR COMM radio, and add advanced communication and audio capabilities to your panel.

VHF COMM TRANSCEIVER
The 2,280-channel capable VHF COMM radio offers 10 watts of transmit power plus pilot-selectable 25 kHz or 8.33 kHz channel spacing. Simply tap the standby position to enter or find your frequency, then tap the active frequency to switch.

FIND A FREQUENCY
Enter an airport identifier into your AXIS Flight Display or G3X Touch display to look up frequencies for that location (tower, ground, ATIS, clearance delivery, etc.) Then, send the selected frequency to the standby position on the 205xR radio.

FREQUENCY ID
The GPS on your AXIS Flight Display or G3X Touch enables frequency ID to show your tuned frequency’s identifier and type, including tower, ATIS, center and more. So you know who you’re talking to.

STANDBY COMM MONITORING
Listen to a standby frequency, such as ATIS, without leaving your active channel.

INSTANT RECALL
With frequency memory and recall, you can quickly tune your most frequently or recently used frequencies.

TWO-PLACE INTERCOM
Communicate clearly with your passenger via the built-in intercom. The pilot-isolate feature allows you to focus on COMM radio communications or for your passenger to listen to music without radio interruptions.

AUTO SQUELCH TECHNOLOGY
Auto squelch allows GTR 205xR to automatically sense noise levels in the cockpit and adjust the mic squelch for easy intercom use regardless of the cockpit noise level.

3D AUDIO PROCESSING
With your stereo headset, hear each audio source as if it’s coming from a unique location — so it’s easier to differentiate between sources.

EQ SETTINGS
Music settings allow you to select enhanced bass boost levels as well as equalizer effects that include rock, classical and pop audio profiles.

AUXILIARY INPUTS
GTR 205xR is capable of up to four AUX inputs, including two channels for stereo audio plus mono audio alerts and more.
Radio Type
GNC 215 NAV/COMM units include a VHF NAV radio in addition to a COMM radio.
