Garmin GTR 205 — COMM Radio for Helicopters - 010-02480-02

The Garmin GTR 205 is a slimline VHF COMM radio and audio solution for helicopter panels, combining radio communication, intercom capability and connected audio functions in one unit. Its full-color LCD display and 1.3” bezel height make it a practical modernization option where panel space and efficient frequency management matter.

Clearer Crew Communication

The built-in two-place intercom supports clear communication between pilot and co-pilot, with pilot isolate for reduced interruptions during COMM radio use. An optional software enablement expands the intercom to four places.

Streamlined Frequency Management

The 2,280-channel capable VHF COMM radio supports airport frequency lookup, frequency ID with a compatible GPS source, standby COMM monitoring, and quick recall of frequently or recently used frequencies. A press and hold of the volume knob selects 121.5 emergency frequency.

Remote Display Tuning

When paired with an AXIS™ Flight Display or G3X Touch™ flight display, the GTR 205 can be remotely tuned from the flight display touchscreen. The radio also supports optional dual-COMM switching to monitor or communicate through a second COMM radio.

Audio Processing and Bluetooth

Auto squelch senses cockpit noise levels and adjusts mic squelch to support intercom use in changing noise conditions. 3D Audio processing can present individual audio sources from distinct perceived locations when used with a stereo headset, while EQ settings and optional COMM playback add audio-management flexibility. Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity supports music streaming and phone functions from one connected compatible device, with track and call information shown on the display.

COMM Capability Options

The GTR 205 provides standard 10 watts of transmit power, with optional enablement available for 16 watts. Pilots can select 25 kHz or 8.33 kHz channel spacing and use either automatic or manual squelch. The built-in timer can count up or down for approaches, holds and other assigned maneuvers.

Night and Update Readiness

For demanding night missions, the GTR 205 is available with optional NVIS enablement. Firmware updates are free and field loadable by micro-SD card. The Bluetooth word mark and logos are registered trademarks owned by Bluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks by Garmin is under license.

MEET THE ALL-IN-ONE COMM AND AUDIO SOLUTION

Upgrade your COMM radio with the modern, cost-effective slimline GTR 205 radio, and add advanced communication and audio entertainment capabilities to your panel.

BUILT-IN INTERCOM

Communicate clearly with your co-pilot via the included two-place intercom. Expand to a four-place intercom with an optional software enablement.

ADVANCED AUDIO PROCESSING

With auto squelch, 3D Audio processing, EQ settings and optional COMM playback, GTR 205 ensures you have modern audio capabilities.

CONNECT A SECOND COMM

With optional dual-COMM switching, GTR 205 can act as an audio panel and allow you to talk via and/or monitor a second COMM radio.

VHF COMM TRANSCEIVER

The 2,280-channel capable VHF COMM radio offers standard 10 watts (or optional 16 watts with enablement) of transmit power plus pilot-selectable 25 kHz or 8.33 kHz channel spacing and automatic or manual squelch. Swap your active and standby frequencies with a single touch of a button.

FIND A FREQUENCY

Enter an airport identifier, and let the GTR 205 radio look up frequencies for that location (tower, ground, ATIS, clearance delivery and more) from its worldwide database. Then, send the selected frequency to the standby position.

FREQUENCY ID

Pair with your compatible GPS source to enable frequency ID, and show your tuned frequency’s identifier and type, including tower, ATIS, center and more. So you know who you’re talking to.

STANDBY COMM MONITORING

Listen to a standby frequency, such as ATIS, without leaving your active channel.

INSTANT RECALL

With frequency memory and recall, you can quickly tune your most frequently or recently used frequencies. Plus, holding down the volume knob will dial up the 121.5 emergency frequency.

BUILT-IN TIMER

Use the built-in timer to assist with approaches, holds and other assigned maneuvers — with the option to count up or count down.

NVG COMPATIBLE

For demanding night missions, GTR 205 is available with an optional NVIS enablement.

REMOTE TUNING

Pair the GTR 205 radio with your AXISTM Flight Display or G3X Touch™ flight display, and remotely tune your radio via your flight display touchscreen.

BUILT-IN INTERCOM

Communicate clearly with your co-pilot via the built-in two-place intercom, which is expandable to four place. The pilot-isolate feature allows you to focus on COMM radio communications without interruptions.

AUTO SQUELCH TECHNOLOGY

Auto squelch allows GTR 205 to automatically sense noise levels in the cockpit and adjust the mic squelch for easy intercom use regardless of the cockpit noise level.

3D AUDIO PROCESSING

With your stereo headset, hear each audio source as if it’s coming from a unique location — so it’s easier to differentiate between sources.

BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY

Pair with your smartphone or other compatible device to stream music and see song and artist on the GTR 205 display — and play, pause, skip or repeat tracks without needing to access your device. Plus, receive incoming calls, view phone numbers, end calls, and see your device’s signal strength and battery life right on the display.

EQ SETTINGS

Music settings allow you to select enhanced bass boost levels as well as equalizer effects that include rock, classical and pop audio profiles.

AUXILIARY INPUTS

GTR 205 offers up to four mono AUX inputs for audio alerts and more. Two channels may be combined for stereo audio input.

FOUR-PLACE INTERCOM

With the purchase of an optional enablement, GTR 205 can offer audio panel features. This includes a four-place intercom, providing you volume control for the pilot, co-pilot and passengers — with individual mic inputs for all four positions.

DUAL-COMM SWITCHING

Connect a second COMM radio via an AUX input. Switch between either radio — or monitor both at once. In event of a power loss, a backup mode will automatically connect the pilot’s headset to the second radio.

COMM PLAYBACK

Record up to 150 seconds of prior transmissions. Easily browse clips and playback clearances, missed radio calls and more. Customizable softkeys make it easy to access transmissions.

Radio Type

GNC 215 NAV/COMM units include a VHF NAV radio in addition to a COMM radio.
