Garmin AXIS™ GDU 116B — 11.6" Flight Display brings next-generation PFD, MFD and available engine indication capability to eligible certified aircraft in a large, full-HD glass-cockpit format. Part number 010-03000-00 includes an internal GPS receiver for VFR navigation and can display IFR navigation guidance when connected to a compatible external IFR navigator. Its capacitive touchscreen, physical knobs and bezel softkeys provide flexible control of critical flight information throughout every phase of flight.
View flight, navigation and system information on a bright 11.6" landscape display with 1920 × 1080 full-HD resolution. The configurable display can operate as a primary flight display, multifunction display or part of a split-screen PFD/MFD/EIS arrangement when connected to the required compatible equipment.
The GDU 116B includes an internal GPS receiver intended for VFR navigation. When connected to a compatible external IFR navigator, the display can present the selected navigator’s flight plan and guidance information for an integrated panel experience. The internal GDU 116B GPS is not approved for instrument approach navigation.
Interact with the AXIS system through its capacitive touchscreen, two dual concentric knobs and six bezel softkeys. Context-sensitive menus and quick-access controls make it easy to manage display windows, data fields, maps and other configured system functions.
The AXIS GDU 116B can serve as the center of a modern Garmin flight display system. In a compatible installation, the PFD presents attitude, airspeed, altitude, heading, navigation guidance and other essential flight information supplied by the aircraft’s connected sensors and avionics. Configurable windows support split-screen PFD, MFD and available EIS presentation, while pilot-selectable widgets provide convenient access to flight plans, traffic, weather and other installed functions. Available situational-awareness features include enhanced synthetic vision, 3D SafeTaxi® airport diagrams and an MFD-style moving map within the HSI.
The multifunction display provides a dynamic moving map with available overlays for ADS-B traffic and weather, terrain, obstacles and other configured flight data. Pilots can use the touchscreen to pan the map, access waypoint information and make supported flight-plan changes through an intuitive radial menu. The GDU 116B’s internal GPS supports VFR navigation, while compatible external IFR navigators can provide approved IFR flight-plan and approach guidance to the display. Available airport and emergency-assistance functions depend on the aircraft’s connected avionics and approved system configuration.
The 11.6" AXIS display measures approximately 11.00" wide by 7.83" high by 4.28" deep, with an installation depth of approximately 2.48" behind the panel face. It uses the same panel cutout and screw locations as the Garmin 10.6" G3X Touch™ display, creating a practical upgrade path for qualifying aircraft. Garmin states that many existing G3X Touch sensors and components may also be retained, subject to the approved installation. Because the GDU 116B does not include an internal COMM radio, NAV receiver or audio panel, those functions must be provided by compatible external equipment selected as part of the complete avionics system.
AXIS installations require professional system planning and installation. Aircraft eligibility, external navigator compatibility, ADAHRS and magnetometer requirements, engine monitoring equipment, autopilot integration, datalink interfaces, wiring and mounting provisions must be confirmed for the specific aircraft. Contact Neal Avionics before ordering so we can verify part number 010-03000-00 and help configure the correct AXIS system for your panel.

This part number is the certified GDU 116B. Its internal GPS receiver is limited to VFR navigation. The display does not include the internal IFR GPS, COMM radio, NAV receiver or internal audio panel offered in other 11.6-inch AXIS variants. It can serve as an indicator for IFR navigation when connected to a compatible external IFR navigator.
A Vision for Flight
Explore the design, interface and installation possibilities of the AXIS flight display family.
Flexible Display Roles
AXIS is highly configurable. Depending on the approved aircraft installation and connected equipment, the GDU 116B can support primary flight, multifunction and engine-information presentation.
Modernize the panel with a digital PFD that supports split-screen PFD/MFD/EIS windows, customizable data fields, quick-access controls and widgets for flight plans, traffic, weather and other selected information. Available capabilities include enhanced synthetic vision, 3D SafeTaxi® diagrams and an MFD-style moving map on the HSI.
View a dynamic moving map with available overlays for ADS-B traffic, weather, terrain, obstacles and additional flight data. Split-screen layouts place more information in view, while the radial menu provides direct access to waypoint information and flight-plan tools.
When paired with the required compatible engine interface adapter, sensors and approved configuration, AXIS can present detailed real-time engine data, gauges, fuel-computer information, exceedance alerts, advisories and lean-assist functions. Tap the EIS strip to open an expanded engine page.
The 11.6-inch AXIS format provides a full inch more diagonal display area than the 10.6-inch G3X Touch system. Faster processors support quicker map panning and zooming, while enhanced graphics help present flight information with greater clarity.
System Integration
The GDU 116B is designed for installations that use compatible external GPS navigation, communication and audio equipment. This makes it a strong AXIS option for aircraft owners who want the next-generation display platform while retaining or selecting a traditional external radio stack.
Situational Awareness
Depending on installed equipment and configuration, AXIS supports Garmin safety-enhancing tools such as Runway Occupancy Awareness, optional SurfaceWatch™ runway monitoring, 3D SafeTaxi diagrams and Smart Glide™ technology. The dedicated EMER bezel key provides direct access to configured emergency functions.
Upgrade Efficiency
The 11.6-inch AXIS display provides more display area while using the same panel cutout and screw points as the 10.6-inch G3X Touch display. For qualifying upgrades, AXIS can also use many existing Garmin sensors and components, helping create a more practical path to a next-generation panel.
AXIS Platform Capabilities
Available functions depend on the external navigator, radios, sensors, datalinks, engine interfaces and other equipment selected for the approved installation.
AXIS provides touch-based flight-plan entry and graphical routing that helps pilots visualize route segments, departures, arrivals, holding procedures and available approaches.
With the GDU 116B, IFR navigation and approach guidance must come from a compatible external IFR navigator selected as the active navigation source.
Built-in Wi-Fi® supports compatible database-transfer functions, while Bluetooth® connectivity supports compatible mobile-device connections and flight-deck data exchange.
Depending on system equipment, AXIS can work with Garmin Pilot™ and ForeFlight Mobile for connected cockpit functions. Garmin also states that GDL® 60 and PlaneSync™ compatibility is coming soon.
